Melodylist - Saz
The Loneliness of the SazThere is a saz sitting quietly in the corner of an old room.
Once, it was surrounded by people. Someone would pick it up, another person would start singing, and the room would slowly fill with music. Friends would talk, laugh and listen. The saz was never alone.
Now, the room is quiet.
A little dust has settled on the saz. Nobody has touched it for a long time. Outside the window, the city is still awake. Lights shine across the streets, cars pass by, and people continue with their lives.
But inside the room, there is only silence.
The saz is not angry. It has not forgotten how to make music. It is simply waiting for someone to pick it up again.
Maybe that is the strange loneliness of a musical instrument. It can carry hundreds of melodies inside it, but without someone to play it, those melodies remain hidden.
A musical instrument does not become silent because it has forgotten how to speak. Sometimes, it simply has no one listening.
And perhaps the saz is still waiting for that moment when someone opens the door, takes it gently from the corner, and lets its first note fill the room again.
Some instruments are made to be played. Some melodies are made to be heard. And sometimes, all they need is someone willing to listen.
That is where music begins again.
Shall we share a quiet moment with the lonely Turkish saz?
